Max Bucher — Freelance UX Architect & Certified Product Owner
Hi. I‘m Max Bucher, a Senior UX Architect and Certified Product Owner (PSPO I), based in Frankfurt, Germany.
I’ve been creating and shaping user experiences for 15+ years now, in the light of digital transformation and agile product development. With a focus on Automotive, Financial Services, Telecommunications, Energy and Mobility, in large-scale digital projects.
Scope of my work
Creating UX concepts, from mobile apps, websites, and digital service tools, to multi-market platform relaunches and large-scale customer portals.
I am seriously gravitating towards complex project challenges.

How I may support your project
Creating concepts for digital products from scratch,
e.g. a vision prototype for an asset management portal.
Fleshing out component-based systems from a UX perspective,
e.g. in the context of an agile development process.
Optimizing and/or enhancing a running system,
e.g. an app, a portal or a software product.
Supporting your agile process as a Proxy Product Owner,
e.g. backlog and user story management or else.

USER-CENTRIC & LEAN
I always strive for creating digital products and interfaces that put the users in the centre of everything. Concepts and solutions that match real user needs and resolve their pivotal pain points. While using both explorative and evaluative techniques from the User-Centred Design (UCD) spectre, Lean UX, or Design Thinking. For example synthesizing User Journeys from research activities, or early testings with Card Sorting or Paper Prototyping. It’s key to apply user-centric techniques throughout the process.
ITERATIVE & PROTOTYPE-BASED
While setting up the stage for a thriving user experience, I always pursue rapid iterations. Starting from scratch with pen-and-paper scribbles within a project's discovery phase to sound out promising UX directions. Within the core design team or larger workshop constellations.
From there to wireframe-based concepts, as well as lo-fi and hi-fi UX prototypes. I am also always eager to establish and impel component- and template-based systems, especially in the context of large-scale, multi-market portal and platform projects. I like working with prototyping software Axure RP, but I am also using Sketch with InVision, Adobe XD or Figma, depending on project complexity, team setup, and the specific workflow. I prefer working with Figma, but I am also using Axure RP, Sketch with InVision, or Adobe XD, depending on project complexity, team setup, and the most efficient workflow.
INTERDISCIPLINARY & AGILE
I am used to work in highly dynamic, agile project setups. Within interdisciplinary, sometimes even intercontinental team constellations. Ideally, of course, in a short walking distance allowing quick, instant exchanges. In the last years, I’ve been constantly working in Scrum and Kanban environments, using Jira and Confluence with my colleagues.
I am used to own, talk through and debate UX concepts with the responsible corporate departments and stakeholders at a company.
If required, I am also eager to flesh out detailed UX specification and documentation, when handing over UX artifacts to dev teams.
IDEA-DRIVEN & STRATEGY-FOCUSED
I am convinced that there should always be a powerful, striking idea that keeps all actions together. And may it be a set of UX paradigms or guiding principles emerging from the project's research and discovery phase (UX strategy). This will also help shaping the same understanding and mindset within the team. And ultimately a cohesive, innovating UX design. Of course, all actions should be aligned with corporate strategy, and business and product goals.
